Bars + Tone
Bars + Tone is a video and post-production company, specializing in Marketing Communications and Public Relations videos. We were asked to rework their existing logo and produce a suite of collateral items. We simplified the initial 'b' in their logo to work in color and in black and white.
In our initial consultations we discovered that the target market for Bars + Tone was corporate but that they saw themselves more as a creative agency. It was our job to convey the creative side of the business but speak to the corporate audience.
After several rounds of color palettes we came to the orange and grey that was applied to the logo and graphic treatments of the letterhead, business cards and labels.
The result is an identity system that can be used in a variety of media from black and white or color print to digital media.

Silicon Garage
Silicon Garage sells reconditioned radiators for vintage BMW automobiles. Silicon Garage is a sole proprietor business that came to us with an extremely limited budget. Rapid visualization and delivery was required to meet the budgetary needs of the client but at the same time deliver a logo that reflected what the business does.
Along with a logo, we also designed a label to go on the radiators to help identify the product to customers and to aid in quality and inventory control. We discussed the color and shape with the client. A blue color on a silver metalic label was chosen to imply coolness, a quality that a car radiator should possess.
Both the label and logo refer to the shape of a radiator to help reinforce what it is that Silicon Garage sells. The label uses a dark "cap" with the reverse text for the company name. The "cap" reflects the radiator shape. The logo employs a reductive approach using a rounded square image of an abstracted radiator.
We used the free version of Blue Highway for the font.

Bay Area 02
Bay Area 02 is a car club devoted to the BMW 2002. The culture of the club is both local and global (via the internet).
The logo for the club employs a retro quality but also refers to the shape of part of the grille and headlight of a 2002. The brand was extended to the Web by using four "icons" which represents different aspects of the car: a taillight, the BMW Roundel, a steering wheel and a speedometer.
Both of these images have been extended to T-shirts, sweat shirts and caps, posters, postcards and of course the Web.
The imagery has been successful in brand awareness outside of the immediate club through the Web site and through publications of the BMW Car Club of America.
