| Valencia Green: Case Study Valencia Green provided finance for green building projects and green upgrades, such as loans for solar panels on a home. The client wanted to be able to promote the business, educate customers about green building and promote events and information seminars that they sponsored or produced themselves. To do this they asked for features like a calendar to list events as well as other green building related events, a community page and a gallery to display photos from the events. We used a Typo3 content management system which allows for multiple layout types within any page. However, some of the requests required specific attention to the interaction. The client wanted two different places to post photos as well as a calendar of events that they were sponsoring or participating in. Although we used available Typo3 modules for the calendar and photo galleries, it was important for us not to just use the default configurations because they would not have met our client's request exactly and (as we thought) wouldn't be as easy to navigate and use. The layout for each gallery screen allowed for descriptive copy to help with search engine indexing and inform visitors to the site. We also suggested to the client that we could syndicate information from the calendar and project listings on the home page and other places in the site. We put this information in callouts on the home page. In addition, we provided a Flash-based home energy usage chart that allowed users to learn where they could save energy in their home. The client was happy with the results and the ability to update the site when ever he needed. Valencia Green was affected by the credit crunch and the site is no longer online for viewing.
